'Y' WORTHY HOUSE
behind the name
My junior and senior year of high school I suffered from a severe eating disorder that almost prevented me from going to college. After months in and out of the hospital, dozens of EKG's, and a ferry ride to my in-patient center, I finally fled from the darkest parts of my mind and freed myself from anorexia.
Years later I wanted a permanent reminder of what I went through and why I would never want to go back. As someone whose favorite art form is words, I decided to get a tattoo of the word 'worthy', but in my sisters handwriting. Now, in the smallest font possible, I have a reminder etched into my body that I am worthy: worthy of trust, honesty, happiness and, most importantly, love.
Because the tattoo is so small, the fine lines bled more than I hoped, and the letter 'y' is warped.
But now that 'y' is the Worthy House logo and slogan.
Not perfect, but always worthy.
